Hurricane Irene hit NYC on the late evening of 8/27 and 8/28/2011. Here’s footage of what it looked like as the storm was approaching on the late afternoon of 8/27 and the sheets of rain and nasty winds we were treated to as it was about to touch down on the city in the early morning of 8/28. It passed through the city around 9AM on 8/28 and was then downgraded to a tropical storm.
Fortunately, at least in my neck of the woods, there didn’t seem to be much damage.
Footage is of midtown NYC including the Empire State Building, Bank of America Tower, Flatiron Building and of the Con Edison Clock Tower at Union Square.
